Come and discover the exhibitions of the International Prehistoric Centre at the entrance to Les Eyzies. In the centre of the village, you will find the old castle of Les Eyzies, now the National Museum of Prehistory. It was built on a prehistoric site and a troglodytic village.

With more than 18,000 objects to see, they trace no less than 400,000 years of human presence. After this visit, you’ll understand far better your ancestors and the life they led!

Les Grottes des Eyzies

Coming from Sarlat, at the entrance to Les Eyzies, you will come face to face with the Combaralles cave. This one has about 800 parietal engravings over 300 meters. Discovered in 1901, it is located 1.5 km from Font-de-Gaume.

Near the Combarelles cave, you can also visit the Font-de-Gaume cave, which contains engravings and polychrome paintings dating back to 12,000 BC. You will see representations of mammoths, bison, reindeer; alll incredibly well preserved.
